The Fall is a sculpture comprised of a broken antique chandelier dating back to 18th century Iran, with the image of Nasser•e•Din Shah Qajar on its tulip shaped lampshades. Considering its age, the object has supposedly witnessed many significant happenings in contemporary Iranian history.
In 2011, the chandelier fell and broke due to an accident, while on sale, hung in an antique shop. The Fall is an effort to preserve the shattered chandelier in the very form it was given by the accident. The chandelier is put on a light box with the same dimensions as the table it had fallen on, and in the exact position as it had shattered. In this way, the work is an attempt to suspend the moment of the accident in time, and to give light to this broken source of light that is put to dark permanently.
