Diaries

Diaries is an audio work about sexuality and gender. The work consists of two stories as personal sex experiences of two people. You can listen to the stories with the use of headphones.
With this experiment, I seek to explore the liminal space that encapsulates preconceived notions of gen-der and sexuality. My intention is to blur the borders that shape binary oppositions (e.g., male/female, ho¬mosexual/heterosexual, etc.). This work encourages you to question the gender roles, and to think about the lesser known implications of sexual orientation and its various subcategories.

I chose audio as the medium of this work because usually artworks related to the idea of sexuality are associated with eye catching imagery or have other explicit visual content. However, fantasy has always been an undetectable part of sexuality. By using intimate voices and providing a private listening experi-ence through headphones, I urge you to rely on your imagination to envision the narratives.
